Ahmed Athif (Hammettz) is an endurance athlete in the Maldives, with a passion for endurance sports activities such as ultra-running, triathlons, rowing and mountain climbing.
Started running in July 2015, he has participated in several events and brought back astounding results. One of the most notable undertaking is the first ever 24 hour run in the Maldives, as part of the MV50 Ultra Run, organized by Runners Maldives. In his first ultra run, Athif completed 145.8 kilometers in 24 hours. Another noteworthy event is his first marathon in 3 hours 36 minutes 17 seconds, in the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore 2015.
He will be attempting to row around the Maldives on February 2017, with the aim of spreading environmental awareness by circumnavigating the Maldives in a rowing boat, through 26 natural atolls in 30 days, crossing the equator twice, covering 2100 kilometers. This will be the first time anyone attempts to row around the double-chained archipelago of 1192 islands in the Indian Ocean.
